Nova’s head of M&A, strategy and partnerships, Nathan Reay, exits

Nathan Reay, Nova Entertainment’s head of mergers and acquisitions, strategy and partnerships, has resigned. His role will not be replaced.

Mohil Asija, Nova’s manager of M&A, strategy and partnerships will continue in the mergers and acquisitions area, advised a Nova spokesperson, and will assist senior executives and the board in assessing strategic opportunities.

Reay will not be replaced at Nova following his departure

It isn’t yet known what Reay’s new role will be.

The role was a new one when Reay first stepped into it in 2016, coming across from Bauer Media where he was head of M&A for Asia Pacific. He’d also held senior roles with PwC and is a board member for Scaleup Mediafund, Joust and the Primary Club of Australia.

At the time of his appointment, Nova CEO Cath O’Connor said Reay’s appointment reflected an area of growth for the radio business.

“We see a strong opportunity for Nova Entertainment to leverage its brands, audiences and expertise into new areas of growth for the company. We are delighted to welcome someone of Nathan’s calibre to Nova Entertainment at an exciting time in our development, to help us with that journey and seize on the significant opportunities that lie before us,” she said in a statement at the time

Reay’s move is just the latest in a round of radio shake-ups.

Nova was hit with redundancies in 2019, as were Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) and Australian Radio Network (ARN), amid tough marketing conditions which haven’t yet shown signs of improving.

The media company also snapped up Irene Hulme, who was a casualty of SCA’s redundancies, as its music director.
