‘Now is the right time’: Adam Sadler steps down as SBS director of media sales
The director of media sales for SBS, Adam Sadler has announced he is departing the company after 15 years with the company.
Throughout his tenure, Sadler has worked with the broadcaster to stay ahead of the commercial digital transformation strategy and has been responsible for shifting the digital business from a handheld to a programmatic operating model.
Sadler was central to several innovative market initiatives, including SBS On Demand’s opt-out for advertising in certain categories and SBS’s Beyond 3% Initiative, which has helped grow media spend in the First Nations media sector.
He said the senior team is in a strong position, and “now is the right time” to move on to new challenges.
“SBS Media has truly been a force in the market in recent years,” Sadler said.
“We have shown how SBS is a force for good at the intersection of public and commercial media.
“We have led the market in the shift to digital video, but we have also led in other key areas such as responsible advertising and investment in First Nations media.”
SBS’s chief marketing and commercial officer Jane Palfreyman, will assume temporary leadership of SBS Media over the coming months, while the recruitment process for the position is already underway.
Palfreyman thanked Sadler for his significant contribution to the business.
“In recent years, the SBS Media team has made sure it always punched above its weight,” she said.

“A lot of that has been due to Sads and the SBS Media leadership team’s focus on crafting a successful strategy which put SBS On Demand at the heart of our commercial offering.”
While the role is vacant, the national sales manager of TV and Digital, Keiran Beasley, the national manager of operations and digital product Lee Callagher, and the national manager of CulturalConnect Kate Young will be elevated in their roles.
“We have a really strong leadership team at SBS Media and I look forward to working more closely with this exceptional team,” Palfreyman added.
