Now You See Me 2 tops box office as Alice Through The Looking Glass drops to third place

Johnny Depp’s Alice Through the Looking Glass has been pushed to third place after the weekend box office with Now You See Me 2 and Money Monster taking out the top two places.

Now You See Me 2, which stars Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman and Daniel Radcliffe, pulled in $2.869m across 250 screens in its opening weekend to claim the top spot on the weekend box office.

George Clooney’s Money Monster came second after grabbing $2.213m across 306 screens while Alice Through The Looking Glass made $1.972m across 414 screens.

X-Men: Apocalypse claimed fourth spot, raking in $1.561m across 416 screens over the weekend to take its local takings to $13.192m.

Captain America: Civil War continues to sell tickets, grabbing $477,643 across 175 screens to take its total Australian box office to $33.268m.
