NRL showcases success of School to Work program as it positions sport as a ‘power for change’

The National Rugby League’s Indigenous education mentoring program, School to Work, is being promoted in a new campaign featuring Montana the veterinarian student and her mentor Shaun Humphries.

The three-minute video tells the story of Montana, a girl who grew up not speaking until she was 15 years old, telling her story of how the School to Work program helped her get into Sydney University to study a bachelor of veterinary biology and doctor of veterinary medicine.

School to Work assigns year 11 and 12 indigenous students with a mentor to help develop their skills around job readiness and the transition between school to work.

Two 30-second commercials have also been made detailing how the program helped Montana get into her course at Sydney University and why it was so successful for her.

NRL works with a roster of agencies including M&C Saatchi and Archibald Williams.
