NRL slips to 386,000 metro viewers as Brisbane Broncos take a thrashing from Sydney Roosters

The second Thursday of NRL on Nine has brought in a significantly smaller audience than the first, with 386,000 metro viewers tuning in for the match between the Brisbane Broncos and the Sydney Roosters. The game was aired on Nine’s main channel in Sydney and Brisbane and 9Gem in the other states and delivered a national audience of 618,000.

The Roosters triumphed over the Broncos in the match, delivering a solid 59-0 thrashing. Last Thursday 619,000 metro viewers tuned in to watch the Broncos go down to the Paramatta Eels 34-6.

216,000 viewers watched the match on Fox League compared to 355,000 last Thursday.

The match went up against Masterchef Australia on Ten which delivered 970,000 metro viewers and 1.291m nationally and Britain’s Got Talent on Seven with 485,000 metro viewers and 753,000 nationally. Nine’s main channel played RBT in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth to 213,000 metro viewers.

Masterchef also topped all three of the key advertising demographics – 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s.

The most-watched show of the night overall was Seven News with 1.104m metro viewers, followed by Nine News with 1.040m. Seven also saw it’s AFL panel show, The Front Bar, prepare for the return of the season with 338,000 metro viewers tuning in.

The win for the night overall went to Seven with an 18.4% main channel audience share and 27.3% as a network. Nine delivered 17.9% and 27.3% as a network, followed by 17.8% and 24.8% for Ten. ABC held 9.7% and 14.8%. 10 Bold and 7TWO tied as the most-watched multi-channels with 4.6% audience share each.
