NRMA asks staff to Talk This Way
Real staff sing the message in a new ad for NRMA Insurance and SGIO created by their outgoing agency Human.
The “Speak to a human” campaign saw staff from call centres and branches compete in an audition process to perform along to Aerosmith’s Walk This Way.
Meanwhile, NRMA has also created an ad on the same theme using members of the Brisbane Broncos.
The Talk to a Human campaign will run as NRMA Insurance in NSW, the ACT and Queensland, and as SGIO in WA. It launches today. As well as TV, the campaign runs across radio, point of sale outdoor.
The campaign is among the last of Human’s work for the brand, with the insurance company announcing earlier this month that it was switching to Whybin\TBWA\Tequila.
NRMA Insurance will also be hoping that the appearance of the Brisbane Broncos’ Sam Thaiday is less eventful than his previous one, which saw the ad banned because it featured him shaking a vending machine to get a free chocolate bar. The ad also features Broncos player Peter Wallace. NRMA Insurance will become principal and naming rights sponsor of the team from the start of the 2011 season.

Members of the Brisbane Broncos NRL squad will again show their off-field talents on the
small screen in the latest NRMA Insurance television commercial due to hit screens on
Sunday, August 22nd.
The new commercial features Sam Thaiday and Peter Wallace back in the NRMA Insurance
call centre. The crafty pair and Buck the Bronco do a performance piece pep talk to inspire
call centre staff to the song ‘Walk This Way’ by Aerosmith.
“We’re thrilled to have the Broncos back in the call centre for this new ad. We’re bringing to
life the fact that with NRMA Insurance it doesn’t cost more to get your insurance from a
person” said John Lewis, Senior Manager, Advertising & Promotions, NRMA Insurance.
“The Broncos were that good we had twice as much material as we could use. Sam’s got
some special dance moves”.
Sam Thaiday, speaking from the set of the commercial, said: “Following my last call centre
appearance I was keen to star in the new ad and show off my dance moves. Hopefully our
fans will have a laugh at my expense and I certainly won’t be giving up for my footy career
to become a full time dancer anytime soon”.
The new advert can be seen from Sunday August 22nd.
NRMA Insurance has been proudly supporting the Broncos since 2004 and will become
principal & naming rights sponsor of the team from the start of the 2011 season.

The Bronco’s ad comes out the winner here.
What is it with all insurance companies feeling they have to sing to make a point? Guess it’s too much to have the unworry ads back?

Is this brand really the market leader? You have to wonder with crap advertising like this. NRMA should be able to do better than this.

Isn’t this just copying Suncorp Bank?

No the new NRMA ad is not copying Suncorp or AAMI’s ad about “Speak to a real person”
When they are advertising “Speak to a real person” they are saying they dont have an IVR (Interactive Voice Responce) system, i.e press 1 for a quote, press 2 etc
From the get-go you speak to a real person to direct your call.
Where IAG’s NRMA/SGIO “Walk this way, Talk this way” campain is more focusing on the features that it doesnt COST you more to get a quote or set up a policy with them in person or over the phone, than it does to do it online” and by talking to them you can ask questions about coverage, exclusions or payments, so you have the full picture of what you are buying, when purchasing your insurance.
As some companies do charge less online, but the customer may still have unanswered questions about the policy in which they are paying for. Therfore if you do have any questions about the policy before you take it out, you can talk with a consultant at no extra charge from what you would be paying online.

The girl walking to the door irritates me. It’s nothing personal, i am sure she is a beautiful girl, but she does my head in.
