Ogilvy hires first HR head David Sayer from psychological counselling firm

Ogilvy Sydney has appointed its first head of HR.

David Sayer joins the agency from psychological counselling firm AccessEAP as head of talent and performance.

Ogilvy Australia’s executive chairman Tom Moult said: “There is a major war being waged for talent in our industry, and while Ogilvy has some of the most
outstanding training programs in Australia, we want to make sure our staff, and potential new recruits, are a strong focus across the organization.”

Sayer has experience in adland, having worked at Leo Burnett Sydney as HR
manager in 1997. He was promoted to HR director and in 2001 became GM of HR and operations. In 2005, he took on a stint at TMP as general manager of the Sydney operation.

He starts at Ogilvy on July 18.

Sayer’s hire is part of a plan by Moult, who joined Ogilvy in November last year, to find and retain top talent.  In April, the group launched the ‘Young Turks’ program to develop its younger staff in its Sydney and Melbourne offices, which have 280 and 300 staff, respectively.
