Ogilvy becomes latest PR agency to appoint creative director with hire of Marcel’s Bridget Jung

Ogilvy Public Relations has hired Bridget Jung as its first executive creative director.

Jung  will join the PR agency after a career so far spent within creative agencies.

Most recently she spent just over a year as creative director at Marcel Sydney where she worked on brands brands including Berocca, Tiger Beer, OPSM and Nescafe. Marcel Sydney’s creative director.

The appointment follows a growing trend in  public relations agency hiring creatives.

In July, Edelman hired Jamill Bhatti as creative director.

Earlier this year, Flourish PR appointed Phil Cebrano as its first full-time creative director while One Green Bean promoted its creative director Pia Chaudhuri to ECD.

The local trend of PR agencies appointing creative directors was arguably kicked off in 2013, when the founder of One Green Bean Kat Thomas became the agency’s first ECD.

Kieran Moore, CEO at Ogilvy PR, said in a press release that the appointment of Jung will bring the agency a “new energetic and creative approach”.

“While we have an extraordinarily creative team, it was time to appoint an individual to lead the charge and push us forward as an integrated communication discipline.

“We went through a rigorous process to find the right creative lead, and Bridget stood out, as a multi-disciplinary thinker who really understands the power of earned media,” Moore noted.

Jung will work across OPR’s corporate, health, brand, business and technology offerings. Jung has previously worked at OgilvyOne and DigitasLBi in France along with her own creative consultancy Jungle.

Following the recent promotion of Richard Brett to deputy CEO at OPR in August, Jung will report into Brett and work closely with the agency’s strategy and planning director, Kaz Scott.

“Ogilvy PR is already producing outstanding creative thinking and I jumped at the chance to work with the agency’s incredibly talented teams and fantastic clients,” Jung said.

Ogilvy PR’s clients include Ford Motor, Xbox, Dolmio and eBay.
