Ogilvy Sydney hires Gerry Cyron as brand strategy director

Ogilvy Sydney has boosted its planning function with the appointment of Gerry Cyron from BMF as brand strategy director.

The announcement:

Sydney, May 16 2011: Ogilvy Sydney expands its planning capabilities with the appointment of Gerry Cyron as its new Brand Strategy Director.

Starting immediately, Cyron joins Ogilvy from BMF where he was most recently the lead planner for the Melbourne operation working across a range of leading brands
such as Lion Nathan, Goodman Fielder, Commonwealth Bank, FOXTEL and Meat & Livestock Association.

Ogilvy Australia’s Executive Chairman, Tom Moult said of his appointment: “In my experience, planners often get a great rap from either creative people or from clients. Gerry gets rave reviews from both. I’m really chuffed that we’ve lured him
onto the Ogilvy team.”

Prior to his four years at BMF, Cyron was a senior strategic planner at JWT Sydney, Bates Singapore and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne with clients including Nokia, Pfizer, Kellogg’s, Heineken and Masterfoods. Born and educated in Germany, Cyron also brings international experience having started his career at BBDO Düsseldorf.

Cyron said he was excited to be taking on this role that seeks to ensure brand strategy is integral to every part of campaign development.
