OMD takes Carpet Court from Ikon, Ikon boss: ‘the client’s focus was purely on cost’

The Melbourne office of OMD has been appointed by Carpet Court, taking the account from Ikon.

The account will be run out of OMD’s specialist retail division OMD Home, which also handles the Dulux Group, Beacon Lighting, Laminex and Meyer Cookware.

In a press release, OMD stated the account to be worth $4.5m.

Natasha Gallardo, national marketing manager at Carpet Court said: “We have been working tirelessly this year to reposition our brand and differentiate ourselves from our competitors. We are confident we are heading in the right direction, and are delighted to be working with OMD during this exciting phase for the business.”

Steve Sinha, MD of OMD Melbourne said: “Carpet Court is an exciting and dynamic business which we look forward to building a long term partnership with. They have a progressive marketing team that we hope to deliver some great results for.”

Trudi Sampola, boss of Ikon’s Melbourne office, told Mumbrella: “Our focus is on our transformation at Ikon. This naturally means there are going to be some clients who fallout as their focus is purely on cost.”

The Carpet Court account has moved frequently over the past year, with the business moving out of Initiative Melbourne in March last year due to conflict with Initiative’s Bunnings client before shifting to Ikon.
