OMD Sydney names Sian Whitnall as new head of digital

OMD Sydney has continued its recent trend of luring former staffers back to the fold with the appointment of Sian Whitnall as the agency’s head of digital – recruiting her across from Ikon where she was head of digital amplification and trading.

Sian Whithall one of several former OMD staff who have returned to the agency.

Whitnall, who originally came to Australia to work as OMD as interactive director in 2013, moved to Ikon in 2015.

OMD Australia CEO Aimee Buchanan, said the return of Whitnall was a big boost to the agency after her first tour of duty.

“Sian is a great operator, strategically minded and an esteemed leader,” Buchanan said.

“We are thrilled to have Sian back in the OMD family to drive digital thought leadership, product development and innovation through the agency. She will be a critical part of further evolving our product moving forward.”

Other recent returnees to the agency include Peita Pacey, former head of strategy at Carat Australia, who returned in May to become head of strategy, and Gavin Gibson, who also returned in May from 303Mullen Lowe to become national chief strategy officer.

Whitnall said her new role would be focused on making sure digital capability was at the core of OMD’s offer.
