Bauer Media’s Fiona Legdin departs after nine months

Fiona Legdin, Bauer Media’s general manager for fashion, health & beauty, has left the company after just nine months in the role.

Legdin joined Bauer after 12 years at Pacific Magazines, where she was group publisher of the company’s weekly brands including New Idea, That’s Life! and Who. She resigned from the role in April last year.

Legdin has been with Bauer Media for the last nine months.

Upon joining Bauer Media in October, Legdin said she was excited by the opportunity to build upon its existing strengths and to “work with the teams to develop new directions to grow the business”.

Legdin was also a former colleague of former Pacific Magazines CEO Nick Chan, who until three weeks ago was CEO of Bauer Media after joining the company in April last year. He has since been replaced by Paul Dykzeul.

In an internal email to staff, Dykzeul thanked Legdin for her hard work:

Dear Colleagues

I would like to inform you that Fiona Legdin, General Manager, Fashion, Beauty & Health, will be leaving Bauer to pursue other opportunities.

Since joining the business in 2016 Fiona has done a terrific job in transitioning the portfolio to the category structure. She has passionately lead the Hearst brands with innovative first to market executions and more recently the re-launch of Cosmopolitan under new editorship.

I want to thank Fiona for all her hard work and dedication and wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.

Regards,

Paul

Legdin’s departure follows BauerWorks’ Cat Bowe, who left the company this week after five months.

Also in the last month, Bauer Media lost a defamation lawsuit to Rebel Wilson, and Kim Doherty left her role as editor-in-chief of the Australian Women’s Weekly, replaced by OK!’s Nicole Byers.
