Omny to distribute Australian podcasts through Spotify

Podcast publishing platform Omny Studio has announced a partnership with Spotify to distribute Australian podcasts, the company has announced.

The music streaming leader expands its entertainment offering for Australian users

Omny Studio, creators of the leading on demand audio publishing platform for broadcasters and enterprise podcasters, is enabling Australian podcasters to distribute to the popular audio platform Spotify and reach millions of listeners.

A selection of popular Australian podcasts including AFL Nation, The Slow Home podcast, The Alan Jones Breakfast Show, Thinkergirl, Wilosophy and 300 other shows hosted on Omny Studio will be included in Spotify’s growing podcast catalogue which can be played through the Spotify desktop, iPhone, Android and web apps.

Podcasts now available on Spotify include those from TOFOP, Kinderling Kids Radio, SYN Community Radio, Thinkergirl, J-Air Radio, Jackrabbit.FM, Crocmedia and Macquarie Media. Omny Studio will continue to work with Spotify to expand the selection with new up and coming Australian podcasters.

Spotify has recently been making greater strides into the podcasting space. This partnership marks the latest in a series of decisive steps by the streaming giant to expand its audio offerings in the APAC market.

Citing the quality of shows hosted on their platform as the key driver for the partnership, she says “Omny is excited to add such a strong amplification channel to our platform at a time when podcast awareness in Australia is at an all-time high.”

Spotify is the most popular music streaming service in Australia currently, with 21% of Australians using the service weekly according to Edison’s latest Share of Ear survey.
