One day Australia cricket win helps Nine dominate with a share of 28.5 per cent

Cricket continues to prove an audience winner with the first match of the one day series between Australia and India the most-watched program of the evening on Nine.

Session two of the match between Australia and India saw 1.148m viewers tune in from 6.30pm AEDT according to OzTam overnight metro ratings, to see Australia win by five wickets as skipper Steve Smith dominated the Indian bowlers.

Session one of the match had pulled in 565,000 metro viewers from 2pm AEDT with session two the most-watched across the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54).

The popularity of the cricket saw Nine easily win the night, smashing rivals with an audience share of 28.5 per cent while Seven came in second with a share of 15.7 per cent.

Ten managed third place with a share of 10.9 per cent as the ABC claimed a share of 9.2 per cent.

Seven’s The Chase Australia, airing at 5pm, was its most-watched non-news show, grabbing 552,000 metro viewers. Moving into primetime, The Big Bang Theory at 7.30pm was watched by 521,000, growing to 524,000 for a second episode at 8pm.

On Ten, The Project at 6.30pm pulled in 448,000 metro viewers, growing to 525,000 from 7pm.

On the ABC, 7.30 Summer was watched by 536,000.

In the news battleground, Nine News at 6pm won the night with a metro audience of 1.105m. Seven News at 6pm was watched by 1.047m, sliding to 973,000 from 6.30pm.
