Aussie cricketing domination helps Nine snag the win
The return to winning ways for the Australian cricket team yesterday dominated Sunday night television and helped Nine win the night.
The 68 run win against New Zealand in the first match of the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy saw 1.109 million viewers tune in for the evening session, and captain Steve’s Smith’s exceptional catch, according to OzTam’s overnight metro ratings..

The evening session airing from 6:30pm was the second most watched show for the night and the most watched amongst all the major advertising demographics, while the afternoon session, in which Smith made a match-winning century, aired from 1.30pm and managed 789,000 viewers.
The lead in of the cricket boosted the ratings for Nine in the 6:00pm news battle, with Nine’s bulletin the most watched program of the night with 1.172 million viewers, beating Seven, which managed 1.024m.
Ten’s Family Feud airing at 6:00pm saw 264,000 viewers compared to last weeks 294,000.
Airing at 7:40pm ABC’s premier of three part documentary series, Joanna Lumley’s Japan, saw 710,000 viewers tune in.
Seven’s Border Security America’s Frontline, which ran through the ABC premier, managed 469,000 while Ten’s movie, We Bought A Zoo, saw 335,000.
Ten’s Modern Family repeat airing at 7:00pm managed 310,000 down from last week’s 316,000.
In overall audience share Nine won the night comfortably with 27% while Seven managed 19.3%, ABC 12.2%, Ten 8.9% and SBS 3.5%.
