One Direction - Girlfriend's one shot magazine

One Direction’s newfound place in the hearts of Aussie tweens has led Pacific Magazines to launch a spin-off one shot from Girlfriend.

One Direction: The Collector’s Edition went on sale today, priced at $9.95.

The last few weeks have seen online keyword searches around the words “one direction” soar. According to the Google keywords tool, One Direction is generating more than 4m searches a month and 300,000 in Australia alone.

Top One Direction searches include “where are one direction from?”, “one direction single”, “one direction beautiful” and “one direction on tour”.

The 68-page magazine has been released to coincide with One Direction’s tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Australia’s commercial radio stations and breakfast television shows have seen their switchboard besieged with fans whenever they’ve run competitions for One Direction tickets.

The One Direction one shot follows Girlfriend’s Justin Bieber one-shots in 2010 and 2011.

Girlfriend editor, Sarah Tarca said: “With their Australian concerts selling out in under three minutes, the demand for One Direction has reached fever pitch. Our readers have been telling us they just can’t get enough of Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis.”

The magazine features a giant One Direction poster, alongside content including band member bios, trivia, quizzes and style pages.

The One Direction edition will be on sale for three months, supported by promotion online and in Girlfriend magazine.
