One tonne croc gets monster ratings for 60 Minutes as The Block builds audience

Nine channelled the spirit of the NT News last night with its special 60 Minutes report on a one tonne monster croc in the Northern Territory managing 1.109m viewers, one of its biggest episodes of the year.

The Block at 7pm topped the night with its highest rating episode of the series to date which had 1.238m viewers and topped all the demographics, according to OzTam overnight metro ratings.

Seven’s best shot of the evening was Sunday Night at 7pm with 1.054m, and Beach Cops which had 776,000 viewers, up on the 730,000 of last Sunday.

Nine’s share was 25.9 per cent, leaving Seven trailing on 19.1 per cent and Ten third with 11.1 per cent.

The Biggest Loser Families was Ten’s top rating show with 598,000 at 7pm, while ABC’s new drama The Beautiful Lie had 435,000 viewers at 8.30pm, down on last week’s 540,000 viewers. Doctor Who had 493,000 at 7.45pm.

Rugby World Cup semi finals took place over the weekend, with the match between New Zealand and South Africa getting 96,000 viewers for its 3am kick off on Sunday morning on Fox Sports 2. This morning’s viewing figures for Australia’s defeat of Argentina will be available tomorrow morning.

However V8 Supercars proved the most popular sport of the weekend on pay and free TV. On Ten the Gold Coast races managed 556,000 viewers, while Sunday’s race had 156,000 viewers nationally on Fox Sports.

A Place to Call Home managed 167,000 viewers on the Lifestyle Channel.

Seven’s US drama Quantico dropped to 515,000 at 8.30pm., while Ten’s drama Limitless had 393,000. 7Two capitalised on the Back to the Future mania of last week with the third film getting 268,000 viewers at 8.30pm.
