Online community managers conference swarm on soon

The swarm conference will be held 18-19 September 2013.

The announcement:

Online community pioneers, thought-leaders and social media management trailblazers from around the world are set to headline the third annual swarm conference in Sydney 18th -19th September 2013.

swarm became the world’s first online community management conference when it launched in 2011, the brainchild of Co-Founders, CEO of Quiip Alison Michalk and international online community authority Venessa Paech.

Now in its third year, swarm has grown exponentially, attracting a compelling line up of speakers as well as sponsorship from leading players in online community and social media management and moderation fields including Quiip, NewsGator, Dialogue Consulting, Social Instinct and BuzzNumbers.

The swarm 2013 confirmed speaker line-up to date includes:

  • John Coate – the world’s first online community manager, who in 1986 helped create the pioneering San Francisco-based online social network The WELL, named the ‘world’s most influential’ by Wired magazine.
  • Sophie Potter – Online Community Coordinator, Reachout.com. Launched by the Inspire Foundation, Reachout.com is the world’s first online mental health service, with Sophie’s main objective to use Reachout.com’s online community to help young people get the help they deserve.
  • Rich Millington – Managing Director, Feverbee Community Consultancy, who has worked with more than 100 successful online communities, from the United Nations and World Bank to Oracle and LEGO.

Hot button agenda topics include:

How to master and manipulate social science to build bigger, better and more active communities.
The world’s biggest social media team.
Beyond professionals: Young people supporting each other online.
