Online dance series LXD launches in Australia

Branded content house RedLever has launched online video series The Legion Of Extraordinary Dancers to Australian viewers in a deal sponsored by Sprite.

RedLever has partnered with Paramount Digital Entertainment to deliver the unbelievable new web series “The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers (THE LXD)” in an incredible new model of digital broadcast in Australia. “THE LXD” is a new made for web series about an energetic and talented group of amazing dancers with super human powers .

Sponsored by Sprite, “THE LXD” web-series has launched in Australia on the Joost Video Network. For the first time in Australia this never seen before video footage will have a huge reach and scalable distribution across the Joost Video Network. The Joost video technology will also be embedded on “THE LXD’s” Facebook page, “THE LXD” website, plus iPad and iPhone apps are on their way to provide even greater digital distribution of the series.

Partnering with Sprite has revealed RedLever’s capabilities to bring brands to life, by delivering engaging and entertaining video branding opportunities.

Created by director/filmmaker Jon M. Chu (“Step Up 2: The Streets,” “Step Up 3-D”) the series features a group of hip-hop dancers described as “the justice league of dancers”. It could be described as a mix of Heroes, comic books and dance. RedLever will deliver two episodes each week through the Joost Video Network.

Hailed by some of the international press as a ‘’game changer in the way that web series are presented online”, what is unique about “THE LXD” is that it is resembles a feature film for the web – high quality, yet short form with most episodes being no longer than 10 minutes.

A massive sensation since its launch in the US, the web series is consistently in the top 10 most watched shows on Hulu. Its success has seen the cast invited to appear on “So You Think You Can Dance”, take part in the US “Glee” Tour and perform at the 82nd Academy Awards. “THE LXD” had more online viewers than Glee, The Family Guy and The Simpsons during some weeks of its first season.
