Online fashion retailer Net-A-Porter turns to ex-journalist and marketer to head global business

Online fashion portal Net-A-Porter has turned to a former journalist and digital marketer at upmarket retailer Barneys New York to lead the business.

In his role of executive vice president of digital at Barneys, Matthew Woolsey helped triple its digital business in four years as he adopted a mobile, personalisation and editorial focus.

As managing director at Net-A-Porter, Woolsey will drive international growth and oversee content, marketing and buying.

Woolsey, a former senior reporter at Forbes, will be based in London and report to Net-A-Porter president, Alison Loehnis.

Loehnis said: “Matthew is an outstanding talent with a track record of excellence in areas core to our business.

“His background in journalism, tech and e-commerce defines him as a true 21st century leader with a clear vision of how best to harness technology to enhance service and customer experience.”
