Origin Energy takes naming rights for Australia’s national netball team in three-year partnership

Netball Australia has announced Origin Energy as a naming rights partner, which will see the national team become known as the Origin Australian Diamonds.

The three-year partnership includes Origin investing in netball from a grassroots level all the way up to the national team, alongside Netball Australia and every state league, to grow the sport. The company will sponsor seven of the eight Suncorp Super Netball teams.

“We’re delighted to welcome Origin to the Australian netball family and look forward to working on a partnership that will touch so many different facets of the game, from grassroots to the elite,” Netball Australia’s CEO, Marne Fechner, said.

“As Australia’s highest participation sport for girls and women, we’re thrilled that a key element of this partnership will focus on supporting netball’s grassroots, ensuring people from all across the nation can be involved in our great sport.”

Origin Energy added it’s proud to support a sport that is integral to local communities.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Netball Australia to support a much-loved Australian sport and players at all levels across the country – from local clubs right through to the world-leading Australian Diamonds,” said CEO Frank Calabria.

“Netball clubs are such an important part of our local communities, and Origin is excited to be working with Netball Australia to support the players, coaches, umpires and volunteers that are the lifeblood of the sport.”

The Origin Australian Diamonds, ranked world number one, will next play in netball’s bushfire relief match in Sydney on 1 March, going up against a Suncorp Super Netball All Star team.

Origin and its employees have, to date, donated over $870,000 to bushfire-affected communities, with the company setting aside an additional $4m as a bushfire relief package for impacted customers.
