Outdoor ad goes ‘on fire’ to promote movie 2012
Sony Pictures has launched outdoor ads for its disaster movie 2012 using out-of-home company Eye’s large format billboard to give the illusion that the ad is on fire.
The campaign represents Eye’s first large format Lunalite execution and has launched in Sydney and Melbourne.
Barely noticeable.

This doesn’t work, I drive past it everyday and it just looks like a normal billboard

I hope it wasn’t expensive!

….and what hype are they trying to build, that the effects in the film are as crap and underwhelming as in the billboard?
This sort of revolutionary use of ‘fire/flashing xmas light technology’ will have media buyers yanking their money off TV and the interweb.
I’ve seen the future people.

FAIL
Two things spring to mind here – 1) Are we expecting drivers to be looking so intently at the billboard to see the minor effects? i notice the camerman zoomed in and even still there was little “effect” – just a convuluted mess of a billboard.
and 2)Is this poor execution a reflection on the poor execution fo the film (it actually looks awesome)
I reckon they should have put flashing light bulbs around it – better execution than this and at least we’d get a chuckle for it being so bad, rather than people not taking any notice to realise how bad it is

I watched this about 40 times. On the 40th time I finally saw it. I certainly wouldn’t see it if I were driving past.
Oh well, they tried.

I hope that this is just poor filming. Definately wasn’t a full luna that night
