Outgoing UnLtd CEO Chris Freel reveals next move

Outgoing UnLtd CEO, Chris Freel, has today revealed his next move, joining outdoor giant oOh!media in a newly created role.

Freel led the social impact organisation for over six years, and announced his departure late last year.

“It is such a difficult decision to step away from the best job I have ever had,” he said at the time. “However, it feels like the right time for me to take on a new challenge and hand over to somebody who can lead UnLtd through its next chapter.”

His new role at oOh!media – group sales director, Australia – will see the business consolidate its agency, direct, boutique and independent (DBI) teams under single leadership.

Reporting directly to chief revenue and growth officer, Paul Sigaloff, Freel will head up the newly unified team, providing a more aligned approach to the business’ sales strategy and business planning.

“As we continue to lead the out-of-home industry towards a digital first future, uniting our agency and DBI sales teams will strengthen our proposition in the market,” Sigaloff said.

“This will streamline our operations and ensure that we continue to deliver an optimal experience for advertising and agency partners, enabling them to leverage oOh!’s national network to make brands unmissable.”

Prior to UnLtd, Freel spent nearly seven years at Fairfax Media and two at Pandora.

Sigaloff continued: “Chris has an extensive background in building high performing sales teams in competitive media sectors. His transformative leadership style brings infectious energy and a rare ability to build momentum, fostering strong and influential working relationships at all levels.

“Chris is well positioned to ensure oOh! continues to capitalise on its dominant market position and lead our new premium Sydney network, including Sydney Metro, the Metro Martin Place shopping precinct and Woollahra Council, all of which are set to go live this year. I welcome him to oOh!,” he said.

Freel will replace Wade James, oOh!media’s national head of agency sales, who is departing the outdoor giant to pursue other opportunities.

Meanwhile, Tim Elder, head of sales, DBI, will remain in his role under the new structure.

“I want to thank Wade for his time at oOh! and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” Sigaloff said.

“I look forward to continuing working alongside Tim to further leverage oOh!’s scale and to deliver even better outcomes for our customers.”
