Pandora appoints Sally Kiernan as Group Marketing Director – triples size of marketing team

SYDNEY, Australia, 26 October 2016 – Pandora, the go-to music source for fans and artists, today announced the appointment of respected marketer Sally Kiernan as Group Marketing Director, as the company steps up its investment in marketing in Australia and New Zealand.

Kiernan was most recently Marketing Director at Presto, the Australian TV and movie streaming company, where she was responsible for all aspects of marketing as well as customer care and experience.

In her time at Presto, Kiernan delivered a strategy that increased sales, reduced cost of acquisition and grew brand awareness for the start up business.

Kiernan has more than 15 years experience working in senior marketing roles. Prior to joining Presto, she was Head of Sales & Marketing at UBank, a subsidiary of NAB.

She has also has marketing management roles at Vodafone Hutchison Australia, Yahoo! and Fairfax Media’s SOLD.com.au. She was previously a Board Director at Clean Up Australia.

Pandora Australia and New Zealand Managing Director Jane Huxley has also made several additional marketing appointments, to triple the size of the team this year. Three additional staff have recently joined the Pandora marketing team, including: Rachael Townsley as Trade Marketing Manager; Alvin Santos in Data Analytics; and Stephen Murdoch as Retention Marketing Manager.

Two further marketing roles will be announced soon. They join Claudia Rossi who leads insights and research across the group. “I am delighted that Sally will be joining Pandora to lead our marketing efforts across our core group of stakeholders – listeners, advertisers, music makers and our own employee brand.

“Sally was appointed following an exhaustive search for the right combination of functional and behavioural skills. Not only does Sally bring a strong background in media, finance, digital and telecommunications, but her leadership experience will be invaluable to Pandora as we look to significantly invest in marketing to grow our listener base, music and advertiser partnerships,” she said.

“Pandora continues to gain momentum in Australia and New Zealand with new marketleading innovations such as Woolworths Radio powered by Pandora, our recent inaugural Pandora Warehouse event earlier this month, the iMessage music sharing initiative and our new generation Artist Marketing Platform that allows artists to grow their audience and connect with fans via Pandora – with more to come.”

Commenting on her new role, Kiernan said: “Pandora has been a real game changer in the music streaming space in Australia. I am looking forward to working with this incredibly talented team, at a really exciting stage of transition and growth for Pandora. I can’t wait to see what is ahead of us in the months and years to come. ”

Kiernan will join the team on 7th November.
