Paramount restructure sees local executives impacted

Paramount has let go of several executives in the streaming, marketing and operations departments as a part of the global restructure.

Those departed include SVP & head of streaming, Liz Baldwin, general manager Adelaide and vice president  operations and facilities, Frank Filosi, and vice president of marketing, Jean Jenkins. It is understood that less than eight positions were affected by the redundancy round.

However, there were two local promotions and one international promotion inside the company also. Mumbrella understands that these were announced in an internal note sent to staff on Wednesday from Pam Kaufman, CEO of international markets at Paramount.

Locally, executive vice president (EVP) and chief creative officer, Beverley McGarvey, will take on expanded role as head of Paramount Plus for Australia. While her co-lead locally Jarrod Villani, will now take the title of regional lead for Australia, reporting to Katherine Liu, the COO for Paramount International Markets. He will maintain the title of  EVP and chief operating and commercial officer, for Australia and New Zealand.

Paramount’s international leader Maria Kyriacou has become president of broadcast and studios for international markets, overseeing studio and free-to-air businesses around the world, including Network Ten.

A Paramount spokesperson thanked those departed for their contributions.

“Liz was instrumental in positioning Paramount Plus in the Australian market for its launch, now the fastest growing SVOD service in Australia, and its ongoing success.

“Frank’s contribution to the company, to countless careers and to the industry is impossible to overstate. His unwavering enthusiasm, professionalism and committed leadership has been instrumental in South Australia, not to mention nationally.”

On the restructure, they said: “As part of Paramount ANZ’s evolution as a contemporary, multi-platform media and content business, some departments are reshaping their workforce.

“As a result of these changes, which are also strongly focused on the rapidly evolving media and entertainment market, some people will depart the business.

“To those colleagues, we would like to express our sincere thanks for their hard work, dedication, leadership and professionalism during their tenure. They will be fully supported during this period.”

Paramount+ has been seeing positive subscriber growth, which took up 6 per cent of new subscription-on-demand (SVOD) accounts created in the fourth quarter of 2022.
