Parcel company Sendle launches ‘Australia Post busting’ campaign

Parcel delivery company Sendle is attempting to tackle its competition head-on, releasing what it’s called an ‘Australia Post busting” campaign.

Developed in-house by Sendle, Ship & Save represents a “fundamental shift to Sendle’s business and its program,” inviting small businesses who use Australia Post’s MyBusiness to “reject Australia’s 200-year-old functional monopoly by shopping around.”

It follows Australia Post’s launch last week of Australia Post Metro – a new next-day delivery service, targeting retailers in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane amidst an e-commerce boom and increased competition from Amazon.

But despite the increased presence of Amazon in the market, Sendle is focused on Australia Post – mentioning the national carrier seven times in their media release announcing the new Ship & Save campaign.

“Small businesses have been hardest hit with higher inflation and interest rates, and our research shows they lack the education and resources to understand where they can bring down their costs,” explained Sendle’s managing director for Australia, Laura Hill.

“We know that shipping plays such an important part in how small businesses survive and thrive. Ship & Save ensures that shipping is no longer a roadblock to success, but a smooth and seamless journey that adds value and moves businesses forward.”

Jessica Turnbull, Sendle’s director of marketing and communications, said that Australia Post has “stifled competition for shipping and parcel delivery” with what she calls a “functional monopoly” that has spanned two centuries.

“At Sendle, our mission has always been to best deliver for small businesses and our Ship & Save marketing campaign does exactly that.

“We want to remind businesses that there are alternatives to Australia Post, and encourage small businesses to ship and shop around.”

The campaign will run across social channels such as LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.
