Patts Sydney restructures with new hires

George Patterson Y&R has promoted Michaela Brown into a planning role, and appointed Luke Simkins and Hamish Spencer to senior roles at its Sydney office.

The announcement:

Under the leadership team of Phil McDonald and Julian Watt, Patts Sydney has announced it’s next move in the hiring and shaping of the best talent in the agency.

ECD Julian Watt said, “The integrated nature of our work calls for a seamless marriage of thought and action, where insight, idea and execution work together harmoniously. This calls for a different approach to who sits where and does what.”

This sees the move of one of the agency’s brightest copywriters, Michaela Brown into a planning role, and the appointment of a new senior team, Luke Simkins and Hamish Spencer.

Says McDonald, “Our plan requires multidimensional talent working together and firing off each other. We’re delighted to have Michaela, Luke and Hamish sitting at the agency table.”

Spencer is an experienced writer, with roles at Whybin/TBWA and Publicis Mojo, his work recognized at Cannes, AWARD, The One Show and D&AD.

Luke Simkins has worked at Saatchi & Saatchi and Leo Burnett where he worked on the McDonalds “Name It Burger” campaign – the most effective burger launch in McDonald’s history in Australia.

McDonald concludes, “Patts Sydney had a very good year with some first class work for our existing business and 10 new clients through the door. These new appointments will set us up well for an ever better performance next year.”
