Peer Group finds new co-owner in Jo Walker

Adam Zammit’s music empire Peer Group Media has a new co-owner, with Austereo’s Jo Walker investing in the company and coming on board as managing director.

Walker will also continue in her role as Austereo’s national tours and promotions manager and working with the network’s digital new music station Radar Radio.

Peer Group – which has seen tumultuous staff moves in recent weeks – issued a statement saying:

“King of the playground Zammit knew he’d met his match in media queen Walker whose extensive experience in advertising, marketing, tour promotion, talent-liaison and handball made her the perfect partner for Peer Group Media

“After months of tied scissors paper rock duels, the pair decided to create a rebel royal alliance and are now intent on shaking up the way Australians approach and consume media and entertainment.”

Peer Group publishes street title The Brag and music industry publication The Music Network, and works on music activations with brands including  General Pants, Optus, Motorola, Cancer Council, Converse, Bacardi, Lion Nathan, Jay Jays and Cadbury. It also owns management agency Parker And Mr French which represents The Vines, Gypsy and the Cat, Blue Juice and John Steel Singers. The company also holds the commercial rights to The Big Day Out, Parklife and Fuzzy group of events.

Walker, who has previously worked in media agencies and at MTV, said: “I have admired PGM from afar for some time now, and I feel like all my experience to date has lead to this venture.  I look forward to all the fantastic things we can now do together as a team.”

Zammit said: “I’ve found in Jo someone equally passionate about creative and commercial solutions. I am excited to be able to consolidate my 18 years of entertainment, media and marketing experience with a new partner in Jo. She brings the wealth of relationships, ideas and a strong tested nerve to a business that thrives on big thinking and perfect outcomes.”
