Peer Group Media buys industry newsletter The Music Network
Industry news weekly The Music Network has been acquired by Peer Group Media, the entertainment marketing agency headed by Adam Zammit.
The weekly publication – covering the Australian music industry – was started 15 years ago, but in recent years as the music industry declined, so did advertising for the magazine.
Zammit, who also publishes street press title The Brag, said: “The music industry is larger and more dynamic than ever before, encompassing everything from technology and software plays and unprecedented consumer involvement, through to artist discovery and an increasingly innovative radio industry.” He added:
“TMN has and must continue to adapt and reflect the realities of this larger music ecosystem – it must live up to its name.”
Peer Group Media also includes branded entertainment projects including the Toohey’s Extra Dry UncharTED band competition, The Bacardi Express and The Jack Awards.
John Woodruff, founder of The Music Network, said: “I realised that with the new era of information needed to keep up with the 21st Century music industry, that it might be the right time to pass on the flame.”
The magazine’s staff will retain their jobs, Peer Group said.
