Pepsi marketing manager Paul Hyde leaves to join Grill’d

Paul Hyde, marketing manager of beverages at PepsiCo Australasia, is to leave the company he’s been with since 2005 to join healthy burger chain Grill’d.

A replacement has yet to be found for Hyde, who oversees brands including Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Mountain Dew, 7UP, Diet Pepsi, Tropicana, Lipton Ice Tea and Gatorade.

Hyde starts at Grill’d next week.

“I’ve been looking for a change, and the time is right for something new. I love the focus on quality, design and on creating healthy products at Grill’d, and when the opportunity arose, I jumped at it,” Hyde told Mumbrella.

On reviewing Grill’d’s agency relationships, Hyde said he would “take stock” before making any changes. Grill’d currently uses AJF Melbourne for advertising and Fabio Ongarato Design.

Hyde will replace Jeremy Chard as general manager, marketing. Chard moves on to another internal role, which he loosely described as “special projects”.

Hyde was promoted to marketing manager at PepsiCo in January 2010, and counts the rise of Pepsi Max as his among his finest achievements at the company. Among the campaigns Hyde was behind was the introduction of the brand’s new logo in January last year.

His other roles at PepsiCo include senior international brand manager, international brand manager and assistant brand manager on Gatorade and Pepsi, his first role at the company in 2005.

He was formerly assistant brand manager, premium, at George Weston Foods, the company he began his career with as a graduate trainee.
