Periscope streams to be broadcast in Twitter timelines

Periscope streams will now be broadcast in Twitter timelines.

The announcement:

Overnight, Twitter and Periscope announced that Periscope streams will now broadcast in Twitter timelines, making it possible to watch broadcasts without leaving the Twitter app, and offering a new way to experience the world.

Twitter is making it easier to see what’s happening by bringing Periscope broadcasts — both live and replays — directly into Tweets, starting now with iOS app, with plans to roll out the integration for Android and the web.

Since Periscope’s launch, there have been over 100 million broadcasts created on Periscope, while the update adds a whole new dimension to Twitter. The integration will include:

–       From today, both live and replay Periscope broadcasts will autoplay within the Twitter timeline

–       When users tap the video, it now goes full-screen and shows Periscope comments and hearts from other viewers

–       Viewers and users don’t need the Periscope app or even a Periscope account to view the streams

–       Users will now have a richer video experience in their home timeline, search results, and on anyone’s profile who’s shared a Periscope

Check out the Twitter Australia and Periscope Blog to find out more about the new feature. Screenshots of the integration of Periscope can be downloaded here. Do let me know if you have any questions.
