Perth agency Block rebrands Fremantle creative hub Freo.Social

Perth branding agency Block has rebranded Freo.Social, a Fremantle creative hub opening officially on April 3.

“Fremantle is undergoing a revolution and Freo.Social is at the heart of it,” explained Mark Braddock, creative director at Block.

“It’s about building a community of creatives and artists, creating a hub for Fremantle’s makers and doers, and using social amplification to build brand awareness.”

Freo.Social is located in Fremantle’s Artillery Drill Hall and will feature a live music venue, creative workspace, beer gardens, an entertainment hall and The Brewshed, an experimental nano brewery.

The entertainment hall will be a 500+ capacity venue to host local, national and international acts. It will also be made available to local creatives, community groups and schools for rehearsals and events.

“It’s not a slick, modernist, on-trend brand – it’s rough around the edges, staying true to Fremantle’s music scene,” he said.

“Often bars and venues look the same no matter where they are in the world. This destination talks nicely to Fremantle’s working class history and has a strong sense of place built into the brand.”

Freo.Social sits within the Triple-1-Three company, behind Otherside Brewing Co (which will operate The Brewhouse) and Nomads food trucks (which will cater the two beer gardens). Both brands were also built by Block.

“The response to the Freo.Social brand so far has been incredible. Music promoters have been really supportive, with gigs heavily booked through to September and many acts already sold out,” said Sally Tucker, brand and communications manager at Triple-1-Three.

There are also future plans to develop the Freo.Social website into a portal that promotes Fremantle arts and cultural events.
