Perth radio ratings: ARN’s 96FM pushes Nova off its perch as network celebrates People 10+

ARN’s 96FM in Perth has taken the top spot in People 10+ and continues to hold a consistent position in breakfast and in drive in the first GfK metro survey for the year.

The station saw a jump of 2.9 percentage points to 13.6% from 10.7% in the last survey. Following closely behind was Nova 93.7 which also grew in audience share from 12.6% to 13.2%, up 0.6 percentage points.

In breakfast, Nova’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun was the #1FM breakfast station, and saw a significant rise in listeners with a bump of 1.7 percentage points to 14.4%. Last survey the station had a 12.7% share.

Its closest competitor, taking second position in the breakfast slot, was ARN’s The Bunch with Clairsy & Lisa on 96FM, which was the biggest breakfast gain in market. The show grew by a significant 2.5 percentage points from 8.9% to 11.4%.

Coming in third was Southern Cross Austereo’s Mix 94.5’s Pete, Matt and Kymba, which, in this book, saw a drop in share after being on a continuous incline for the last six months. The trio dropped by 0.9 percentage points to 11.2%, from 12.1% last survey.

92.9’s rebranding to Triple M saw the station’s new breakfast show Baz, Jenna, Xavier, grow in audience share by 0.2 percentage points to 6%.

Triple M launched on 1 December 2020, with Basil (Baz) Zempilas, originally from 6PR, joining co-hosts, Xavier Ellis and Jenna Clarke to headline an all-new breakfast show last year.

Capital Radio Network and Grant Broadcaster’s 6IX also grew its audience share, with its breakfast audience finishing with a 5.3% share, however its drive segment saw a drop of 0.5 points to a 4.8% share.

In drive, Nova’s Kate, Tim and Joel continued to take the #1FM spot, and grew its audience by 1.9, finishing with a share of 15.3%.

Coming in second position on drive was Mix 94.5’s Carrie and Tommy, with a bump of 1.8 points to a 14.3% share. Last survey had a 12.5% share.

96FM’s Will & Woody was the #3FM show in drive, with the duo jumping up by 2.1 percentage points, to 13.3%, from 11.2% last survey.
