Australian Radio Network will be hoping for an improved performance after rebranding Perth station 96FM following declines in both the breakfast and drive time slots in the latest radio ratings survey.

ARN, which yesterday announced 96FM will become part of the Kiis network, saw the station’s breakfast share fall 1.6 points to 8.9 per cent, a performance which saw it overtaken by Triple J and Hit92.9.

In drive, its audience share also dipped 1.6 per cent leaving the station in last place among the FM stations.

Overall, 96FM’s share fell from 10.2 to 9.4 per cent. Triple J, which climbed 0.2 points to 10.4 per cent and Hit, which increased 1.1 points to 11 per cent, both leapfrogged the station.

The performance of Hit was boosted by the return of Hamish and Andy whose drive audience climbed 2.6 points to 15.4 per cent. It saw the station grab second spot in the afternoon time slot as Mix94.5 slipped back to third place after a 0.5 point decline to 14.6 per cent.

Nova93.7 retained top spot in drive with an audience share of 16.3 per cent, up from 15.5 per cent, while the station also usurped Mix from the top of the breakfast ratings after seeing its share rise from 12 to 13.5 per cent.

Despite losing the breakfast crown, Mix remained Perth’s most listened to FM station with a share of 14.3 per cent followed by Nova on 12.1 per cent, a 0.4 point improvement on the previous survey.

Hit, aided by the Hamish and Andy bounce, climbed from 9.9 per cent to 11 per  cent.

Over on the AM frequency, Macquarie Radio Network’s 6PR was unchanged on 8.4 per cent which enabled it to close the gap on ABC720 which saw its share fall from 10.2 to 9.1.
