Perth radio ratings: Nova holds onto breakfast crown, but Mix steals overall win

Nova 93.7 FM in Perth has maintained its lead in breakfast, despite a 0.4 point drop in audience share. The station’s breakfast team of Nathan Morris, Natalie Locke and Shaun McManus (‘Nathan, Nat & Shaun’) finished on 14.6% audience share, ahead of rival Mix 94.5 FM’s Dean Clairs, Kymba Cahill and Matt Dyktynski (‘The Big Breakfast with Clairsy, Matt & Kymba’), who climbed 1.3 points to 13.9%.

Overall, however, Mix snuck ahead, with a 14.1% audience share across people aged 10+. Nova slipped 0.4 points, losing its overall crown and taking it to second place with 13.5%.

Southern Cross Austereo’s Hit 92.9 climbed 0.2 points from last survey, to secure a 10.8% share of the audience on Monday to Sunday.

The ABC had a successful survey for two of its stations, with youth-orientated Triple J climbing 0.4 points to 8.3% of the audience, and ABC Perth (720 on the AM dial) climbing 0.3 to also land on 8.3%.

Its FM counterpart, ABC FM – which plays classical music on 97.7 FM – fell 0.9 points to 2.2%.

In the competitive drive slot, Nova was clearly ahead, despite a 0.2 point drop for the time slot. GfK measures drive from 4pm to 7pm. On Nova, the syndicated Kate, Tim & Marty Show (featuring Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold) runs from 4pm to 6pm, followed by an hour highlights package of Sydney’s breakfast duo ‘Fitzy & Wippa’ (Ryan Fitzgerald and Michael Wipfli).

Mix climbed 0.6 points in drive to land on 13.4%. During GfK’s drive measurement period, Mix plays The Rush Hour with Lisa & Pete (featuring Lisa Shaw and Pete Curulli) from 3pm to 5pm, followed by the syndicated Triple M Show Kennedy Molloy (featuring Jane Kennedy and Mick Molloy), until 7pm.

In third place in drive was SCA’s Hit 92.9, which fell 0.9 points to 11.3%. Hit 92.9 follows the Hit Network’s model of the Carrie & Tommy Show (featuring Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little) from 3pm to 4:30pm, followed by Hughesy & Kate (with Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek) until 6:30pm. From 6:30pm onwards it plays Wakey Wakey It’s Danny Lakey.

On weekends, Mix is the leader with 13.5% audience share, ahead of Nova’s 12.7%.
