Perth radio ratings: Return of ratings sees Nova take back the lead from Mix 94.5

GfK radio ratings were paused in April due to COVID-19. The last survey released was survey two on 16 April. Surveys three, four and five were cancelled. This story covers survey six, which ran from Sunday 26 July to Saturday 19 September. Survey seven will be released as normal.

The return of the GfK radio ratings has seen Nova take the lead in Perth, thanks to growth in its breakfast and drive slots. After being bumped by Mix 94.5 in the previous survey, Nova has returned to the top with a 12.9% share, despite Mix’s gain of 0.1 points for a 12.7% share.

Marty Sheargold’s last survey as a member of the syndicated Kate, Tim and Marty drive team secured Nova 93.7 a 2.3 point jump in audience share, to 15%. Meanwhile, the breakfast team of Nathan, Nat and Shaun continued its place at the front of the pack with a 14.1% share, up 0.6 points.

Sheargold finished up at Nova on 11 September and has since been replaced by Joel Creasey.

In the overall results, just 0.1 points behind Mix was Australian Radio Network’s 96FM which went up 0.6 points for a 12.6% share.

The worst performers in the breakfast slot were Southern Cross Austereo’s Hit 92.9FM and Triple J, both dropping 2.7 points. Mix’s team of Dean Clairs, Kymba Cahill and Matt Dyktynski, or ‘Clairsy, Matt and Kymba’, gained 1.8 points to a 12.4% share.

Nine Radio’s 6PR breakfast show featuring Steve Mills and Basil Zempilas recorded an 11.2% share, up by 2.2 points.

The ratings are formally named survey six, after the surveys three, four and five were cancelled earlier this year due to difficulties with data collection due to the COVID-19 restrictions in place.
