Perth’s media industry came together on the 4th of February for UnLtd’s annual Big Clash cricket tournament, raising $30,000 for children and young people at risk.

The announcement:

Perth’s media and marketing industry has kicked off the year with a bang by raising $30,000 for children and young people at risk at UnLtd’s annual Big Clash cricket tournament.

On 4th February, Adland put industry rivalries aside and banded together to bat and bowl for good at the legendary WACA Ground. Players from sixteen companies across the WA market formed men’s and women’s media agency and media owner teams that battled it out for the coveted title in +41C heat.

In the highly competitive men’s game, team captain Trent McKeown from MIQ led the men’s agency team to victory in a tight 282 – 281 finish with the final ball sealing the win.

The women’s game was equally exciting with the final result coming right down to the wire. The teams drew with 48 runs each and the winner was decided in unconventional fashion with a 25-metre dash, won by the media owner team, led by captain Leilani Vakaahi from ARN.

Matt Wilson (Significant Other Creative Agency) took out the Men’s Player of the Day for cracking a century on the pitch and Michelle Hawkins (Val Morgan) was named Female Player of the Day for her outstanding performance across the event.

Cricketers and spectators were treated to a premium gelato cart provided by JCDecaux, with both MiQ and Seven West Media providing prizes and merchandise giveaways throughout the day.

Tia Brazier, General Manager Perth, UnLtd commented: “We were absolutely thrilled with the support and turnout for the WA Big Clash. Adland turned it on in 41 degree heat to battle it out for UnLtd’s charity partners. The money raised will make such a difference to the important work our local charities do helping young people at risk in WA.”

“Playing at the WACA, the home of cricket, was a fantastic experience for all and we want to thank all our partners and sponsors particularly Seven West Media, MiQ and JCDecaux. With the UnLtd Open planned for the 19th of May at Wembley Golf Course, we’re also now taking registrations so get your teams in early!”

Trent McKeown, Sales Director WA and SA, MiQ commented “MiQ is very proud to support UnLtd, as well as a great cause that helps disadvantaged youth. It was a cracking day out at the WACA, with two of the closest games of cricket the spectators could have hoped to see.”

“Well done to Tia and the UnLtd crew for putting together such an awesome event, and to those that supported the cause by buying raffle tickets and auction items. MiQ is looking forward to supporting more UnLtd events in 2022 and will be back for the 2023 Big Clash with bells on!”

Bonnie Foster, Marketing Partnership Manager, Seven West Media adds, “The annual Big Clash cricket match was such an enjoyable and rewarding day. Not only did we get to support the UnLtd charities, but we also got to laugh, cry and most importantly, have fun.”

“It was an honour to have the opportunity to captain such a wonderful group of girls, which made the day even more gratifying.”

Competing organisations included 303 ML, ARN, Carat, Domain, Foxtel Media, IPG, JCDecaux, Longreach, Match & Wood, MiQ, Network Ten, Nine, Nova, OMD, QMS, SCA, Seven West Media, Trilogy, Val Morgan, Yahoo and oOh! Media.
