Peter Barrie latest departure following Carat – Mitchells merger

Carat CEO Peter Barrie is leaving the agency,the company has announced.

Barrie will leave this week.

His departure follows the purchase of Mitchell Communications group by Carat’s parent company Aegis with Harold Mitchell taking control locally. Former Aegis boss Lee Stephens departed in October.

In a statement Barrie said: “With solid teams in place in both Carat’s Melbourne and Sydney offices, it’s time for me to pursue other opportunities. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at the helm of Carat and wish the business every success in future. I’m looking forward to a break over the next few months before deciding what’s next on the horizon.”

Luke Littlefield, Chief Operating Officer of Aegis Media Group, said: “We wish Peter all the best for his future endeavours and acknowledge the work he has done in developing a strong team who will continue to service and grow the existing client base.”

Barrie was CEO since November 2009 after managing the agency’s Melbourne business for two years before that.

Mr Barrie was appointed CEO of Carat Australia in November 2009, having previously been Managing Director of Carat’s Melbourne business since August 2007.

Paul Davey – Managing Director, Media for Aegis will now run Carat.
