PHD Australia names Pia Coyle as its new Sydney MD

PHD Australia has appointed Pia Coyle as its new Sydney managing director. Coyle joins from independent media agency Avenue C, where she had been managing partner.

In the new role, Coyle will be responsible for leading the Sydney office, continuing to drive their strong agency culture, and maintaining and building relationships with PHD’s clients.

She will take over from Stephanie Douglas-Neal, who departed earlier this month. Douglas–Neal has joined EssenceMediacom as its new Sydney managing director, Mumbrella revealed last week.

Prior to Avenue C, Coyle had held several senior roles in across the industry, leading the client and investment offerings at Ikon and working at both UM and Starcom.

PHD Australia CEO Mark Jarrett said, “I’m very excited to be welcoming Pia to the business, I have no doubt she’ll have a really positive impact and I can’t wait to see PHD Sydney move into another stage of growth in 2023.

Incoming PHD Sydney MD Pia Coyle said: “I am super sad to be leaving the amazing Avenue C team and my great friends Hugo, Will and Daniel, their business really is something special, but I am also very excited to join the PHD crew – there is so much opportunity to add some energy to an established and awesome team, I can’t wait to get stuck in and be part of building something special.”

PHD Australia Chief Operating Officer Stuart Bailey said: “We are delighted to welcome Pia to PHD, she brings a wealth of experience to our business. With a strong understanding of client needs and the broader media and marketing environment, Pia is the perfect fit to lead the agency. I look forward to seeing her nurture the relationships with our long-standing clients.

Coyle will step into the role in March 2023 and will report into PHD’s COO Stuart Bailey.
