PHD tops new business rankings for 2016 thanks to VW win
The PHD Network has claimed the top spot on a new business ranking for 2016, with the agency raking in $2.6bn in new business globally last year thanks to the global win of Volkswagen in June.
The New Business Barometer, produced by research company COMvergence, examined more than 900 major media pitches and moves completed last year at a global, regional or local level across 12 countries: USA, Canada, Mexico, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Russia, India, China and Australia.
PHD topped the list thanks to the global realignment of car manufacturer Volkswagen which shifted its business from Mediacom to PHD.
The win saw the $35m Volkswagen account move to PHD along with the car maker’s other major brands including Audi, Bentley, Porsche and Skoda.
Ominicom-sister agency Hearts & Science, which is a data-led media agency, claimed second spot with $2bn worth of new business, while Zenith came in at third place with $1.7bn of new business. Carat was fourth with $.12bn, while Starcom rounded out the top five with new business worth $1.05bn.
Amongst the holding companies, Omnicom Media Group topped the rankings (+$5.4bn), followed by Publicis Media (+$2.5bn), Dentsu Aegis Network (+$1.7bn), Havas Media Group (+$870m) and Mediabrands (+$700m), while Group M placed sixth as a result of the loss of Volkswagen and AT&T.
The global CEO of Hearts & Science, Scott Hagedorn, is presenting a keynote at Mumbrella360 in June. For further program details and to book tickets click on the banner below.
