‘Phone, Sportsbet, Biden $1.53’: Trump’s cognitive test gets the Sportsbet treatment

Odds for the US election are live on Sportsbet, with the brand releasing a tongue-in-cheek ad in newspapers, referencing President Trump’s July interview with Fox News in which he spoke about passing a cognitive test.

President Trump repeated the words ‘Person, woman, man, camera, TV’ throughout his interview. Sportsbet has added ‘phone, Sportsbet, Biden $1.53’ to the list, indicating people can bet with the brand on Trump or Democratic candidate Joe Biden.

The ad ran in Nine’s mastheads

In the interview, President Trump believed the test he undertook, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, indicated his IQ, however, it is actually used to indicate early signs of dementia.

The ad was created by Sportsbet’s in-house design team and ideated by creative director Raman Goraya.

The ad appeared in Nine’s mastheads The Age, the Sydney Morning Herald and the Australian Financial Review. The turnaround from the idea for the ad to run on Friday and Saturday was two days, secured by Principle Media Group.

Simon Legg, content and PR manager at Sportsbet, said there are more ads about the election to come.

“The US Election is a massive event for Sportsbet, so you can expect to see a lot more from us as we draw closer to November. In 2016, it was the second-largest event behind the Melbourne Cup for our customers, and we anticipate it being even bigger this time around,” Legg said.

A new product designed especially for Trump and the US election will also be launching soon.
