Pillows and guide dogs dominate AWARD Awards

Sydney agency Happy Soldiers has continued to pick up awards for its category-redefining campaign on behalf of pillow brand Tontine.

Friday night’s AWARD Awards saw Happy Soldiers pick up gold for creative innovation for its dated pillows initiative. It followed Thursday night’s AdNews Awards where the campaign – aimed at persuading the public to get used to the ideas of pillows having a replace-by date – won both ad campaign and media campaign of the year.  

Just six golds were awarded, with Clemenger Group-aligned agencies taking the lion’s share. Three golds went to Australia and three to New Zealand.

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne picked up two golds – both for Guide Dogs Australia with the creation of Support Scent. The campaign, best in show, had previously won silver at last year’s Cannes Lions integrated category.

The agency of the year was named as Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney, based on it receiving the most mentions overall across gold, silver and bronze  – predominantly for its Toyota “Nothing Soft Gets In” ad and Toohey’s Beer Economy campaign.

Publicis was named network of the year.

Lion Nathan was client of the year.

Ray Black was inducted into the AWARD hall of fame.
