Pinterest Predicts trends for 2022

Pinterest has today released its Pinterest Predicts in 2022 report.

The research is based on Pinterest’s global audience of more than 400 million monthly active users. Pinterest search data analysis period was from  October 2019-September 2021.

The report showed that Gen Z are pushing the higher frequency trend forwards, focusing on “good vibrations and spiritual awakenings,” according to the report.

They’re also behind the rising trend of permanent embellishments. Gen Z is leading the trend towards pandemic break-up hair, embracing rebel cuts such as octopus hair and mullets.

Design prediction for 2022 is all about curves. People will invest in home décor such as curved sofas, curved bar designs and curved kitchen islands. Boomers, Gen X and millennials are driving the searches behind this well-rounded home trend.

People are heading somewhere over the rainbow in this year with vibrant outfits and colourful palettes.

In 2022, people will take money matters into their own hands as they set out on new journeys towards financial literacy. Millennials are driving the searches behind investment tips, financial education and investment property for beginners.

Meanwhile, people want to get away to beautiful escapes where they won’t have to lift a finger. Millennials, Gen X-ers and boomers are turning to resorts and all-inclusive packages for easy getaways.

Millennials are also finding ways to elevate the everyday. In 2022, they’re driving the trend towards limitless luxe and squeezing a little more luxury into every corner of their houses. They’re the generation most ahead of the trend towards biophilic design, plant-first architecture. And all those healthy plant walls are a good reason to host a party, so millennials are spearheading the Altbashes trend—celebrations of the undercelebrated.

In 2022, Gen X is all about work/life balance. On one hand, they’re behind the store décor trend, focused on creating bricks-and-mortar experiences. Millennials, Gen X and boomers are driving this entrepreneurial design trend.

Boomers are taking up hobbies to keep themselves young at heart. They’re making time for kidding around and setting time aside for playful pastimes such as indoor swings, useful crafts and fairy bedroom ideas.

They’re at the forefront of the barkitecture trend to redesign their homes with their pets in mind. In 2022, they’ll be the generation most ready to spend the most time in the kitchen cooking.
