Pizza Hut pushes new Stonefired Pizza
Pizza Hut has launched a campaign to promote its Stonefired Pizza Base Range featuring TV celebrity cook Aaron Harvie. The campaign, by M&C Saatchi, debuted this week on TV, radio, digital, social media and point of sale.
Pizza Hut marketing manager Fatima Syed said: “The Stonefired Pizza Base Range lifts takehome pizza to a whole new level and is just one of a range of innovations we have planned for the year.”
What the fuck is stonefired??
Cooked in an oven fuel by, um, stones?

The least liked Masterchef contestant, bad acting from the supporting cast (here’s my ‘surprised’ face I learnt in my Adult Learning Acting class!), a made up culinary/marketing term (stone fired) and a product that seems to be special because they’ve sprinkled rocket over the top of it. *sighs*

“really love the flavours”
“really traditional”
…
“that’s amazing! i’m impressed”
“Go pizza hut!”
cringe worthy.

What a SELL-OUT, Mr Harvie! God, I never thought I would see the day that a guy like that would advertise Pizza Hut of all things at the expense of his own credibility! He just didn’t seem to be that kind of guy… HA!

What genius!
Let’s give pizza an Italian aura. Let’s rename the crap we put on them with Italian names (gosh, were we conning people with offal up until now?), lets get a pretend chef to sell out before he loses his crediblity. All up that should fool the dummies who didn’t notice that proper pizzas from real Italians have been around for ever. I mean with RBT and the price of getting baked these days who is ever hungry enough to eat this crap?
Oh, and lets shoot it with laid back style and convincing acting. That should help the self esttem of the dopey people who eat it.

Stonefired is a way of getting customers to come back to Pizza Hut after they moved to Crust pizza.
Stonefired is an attempt to move the Pizza Hut image away from cheap meat off cuts and homebrand cheese.
“I forgot to tell you – they’re from Pizza Hut.” I am amazed the people acted shocked. It was as if something of quality does not normally come from Pizza Hut.
Actually, no wonder they are shocked – quality ingredients are not normally on Pizza Hut products. Take the Super SupremeButchers Floor Off Cuts Pizza as an example.

Is it a terrible ad? Yep.
Does it reek of inauthenticity? Yep.
Will it up-sell pizza to people that buy pizza from these styles of shops? Probably.
I’m not into it, but good for M&C, i think the ad will probably get the job done.

A guy like that?
I’m not sure what you mean.
This is a reality-show contestant you’re talking about, not a chef who did a grueling apprenticeship under a 3-star madman, worked 18 hour days for fuck-all money learning his craft, and painstakingly building a reputation for his food.
He’s a dude who went on a reality gameshow for a shot at quick and cheap fame. Of course he’s going to parlay that into flogging junkfood.

It says at the end of the ad that we have to try them ALL . I therefore suggest that we do this before making prejudicial statements.

Yesterday the moral barometer was all over the shop with SCG MacGill,
Today the shithouse barometer is well and truly firing

Funny, this ad looks so familiar – seen same thing before. M&C – used to stand for great Australian Icon Ads, but even latest WW is in same category as this one. Same old thing. Sorry, you are nice guys but why do you listen to the client when it turns out like this?

Skank hat. Far out. They hauled Skank Hat out to do this?

So many disturbing things in this ad. Firstly the term ‘celebrity cook’ and its very liberal application nowadays. This clown is just an ordinary suburban punter who appeared on a game show (without winning), and now his opinion is one to be trusted on all things culinary? As plausible as asking the public to take financial advice from someone who won ‘Deal or No Deal.’
Stone fired? As someone who is studying/working to be a qualified chef, I am pleased to have discovered something new today. Unless of course it’s just a bullshit marketing term that translates ‘same pizza that’s still cooked by 15 yo school kids in a gas-powered conveyor oven, with rocket and cherry tomatoes thrown on top to make it look fancy to the bogans who eat this tripe.’
The acting – poor impersonation of enthusiasm and enjoyment, not really believable. And asking people to believe that the same game show loser would be now conducting food seminars is a bit of a stretch, and the actors didn’t help sell it.
Apparently this bloke is about to appear on a series of ads spruiking Taco Bell, just to reaffirm his status as fast-foods new Dancing Bear.
