The announcement:

Sport content business The Inside Word has announced a merger with Poker Media Australia. The alliance will add to the service breadth of The Inside Word, taking advantage of the opportunities in the poker media industry.
Tournament poker received a massive boost in Australia when, in 2005, Melbourne local Joe Hachem won the World Series of Poker. Since then the industry has matured with casino and major pub-poker operators consolidating to run sustainable, large prize money events without the influence of online gaming.
Group Director Stephen Doig said, “Poker Media Australia is a proven media organisation and has a leading position in the market. We saw opportunity in that space to combine forces, bolstering the content services that The Inside Word as a group can offer.“
Both brands will operate independently, however, the combined reach of the group and the alliances across sport and poker are obvious.
Doig said, “We’re thrilled to add this notch to our belt given there’s such a cross-over of interests between poker enthusiasts and sport. It aligns with our strategy of creating quality content for our own media properties and for our clients.
We’re considering new and emerging markets all the time. The content service industry is crying out for quality content. With significant multi-media and broadcast experience within the group, we look forward to developing our service offerings for both brands. The alliance will increase the reach that we can offer our clients and provide our followers with more variety.”
Poker Media Australia has been working with a number of leading organisations in the poker industry across casino and pub-poker markets since 2011. Its partners have been leaders in the poker media industry since 2006. Poker Media Australia will gain from the content efficiencies that will be created with the direct link to The Inside Word.
