Port Adelaide marketing head to lead News Corp in SA

News Corp Australia has appointed Port Adelaide Football Club general manager of marketing and growth, Melissa Librandi, as new managing director of News Corp for South Australia, according to an internal email to staff from executive chairman News Corp Australia, Michael Miller.

Librandi will replace long-time News Corp South Australian managing director Ish Davies at the start of the new year. Davies announced his retirement in October after 36 years with the company.

Librandi joins news Corp with a 20-year career in media, travel and tourism. Prior to joining Port Adelaide in March 2020, she was with the South Australian Tourism Commission for nearly a decade, including six years as head of marketing (domestic).

“Over the span of her career Melissa has also worked in media, tourism, travel and consultancy and was an early advocate for the role of data in marketing and how digital marketing can best be used to solve the challenges facing business, both in the here and now and the longer term,” Miller wrote in the note.

She is currently also board member with the Adelaide Cricket Club.

Meanwhile, Paul Ashenden has been promoted to weekend editor of The Advertiser on Saturday and The Sunday Mail. His promotion follows weekend editor Jessica Leo-Kelton opted to take on a senior role with the Department of Premier and Cabinet as director of communications.

It’s the latest in a series of changes at News Corp’s Adelaide operations this year, with Advertiser editor Matt Deighton standing down in July, replaced by Daily Telegraph deputy editor Gemma Jones.
