PR agency Hive HQ launches new industry podcast

Sydney-based PR company, Hive HQ, has launched a brand new podcast covering the ins and outs of the PR industry.

The agency’s decision to move into the podcasting space came in December after a year of successfully dipping its toes into hosting industry events.

“In 2023 Hive started hosting industry events for likeminded individuals who wanted to learn, share [and] collaborate in the industry,” shared Jessy Marshall, Hive HQ’s founder.

“We had Rebekah Scanlan from news dot com [dot] au as a guest and Lauren Sams of AFR. Both events helped to share valuable insights into each publication and how the publicists should look to pitch and make relationships in the industry.”

The events’ popularity saw a strong demand for attendance, but with the agency based in Sydney, there was only so many people that could be included. The podcast is set to rectify this, and help unify a highly competitive industry.

“The podcast is designed to support the events we will host and also give further insight to industry individuals and likeminded PR professionals,” explained Marshall.

Titled HOSTED by Hive, the podcast features Marshall and her team drawing upon their own experiences from working in the industry, with episodes set to be released every Monday. The show will also host special guests such as media journalists.

For Marshall, HOSTED by Hive provides listeners with a fantastic opportunity to dive deep into the nitty gritty of PR.

“We have so much planned for this little project,” Marshall said. “[And] hope the industry … [and] anyone wanting to understand what it is we do as publicists joins us on our journey!”

Listeners can look forward to upcoming episodes on brand collaborations, internships, micro influencers and more.

The first two episodes – ‘Episode 1: 2023 Wrap Up with 2024 PR predictions’ and ‘Episode 2: Pitching your stories to media’ respectively – are available to listen to on Apple Podcasts and Spotify now.
