PR agency sends out press release to find new MD

Matt buchananOgilvy’s consumer PR agency Pulse Communications has announced it is seeking a new managing director – via a press release.

Current Pulse MD Matt Buchanan will be moving to rival One Green Bean in late October as managing partner.

The release is headlined: “THE BEST PR CONSULTANCY JOB IN AUSTRALIA – APPLY NOW”

Ogilvy PR’s chief executive, Kieran Moore told Mumbrella: “When we’re looking someone as senior as this, we take a multi-channel approach – using Facebook, LinkedIn, recruiters, our contacts in the US and UK. It’s hard to say whether we think the candidate will come from overseas: we’re just looking for the best person available.

“Pulse has a great new business pipeline and will continue to invest in its core strengths, creating great ideas that deliver outstanding results for its clients. It’s an exciting challenge for someone to take an agency which is already at the head of the pack and to make it even better. From the early interest we have had already, it’s going to be a hotly contested and exciting appointment.”

Buchanan has over 17 years of PR experience and has been in the role at Pulse for just under two years, taking over after Pulse founder Samantha Allen moved to Ogilvy New York. During Buchanan’s Pulse stints he was a juror at the 2012 Cannes and CLIO Awards and headed up wins for Huggies, Activision and Carnival Cruise Lines.

Kat Thomas, managing director told Mumbrella “I’m thrilled to be welcoming Matt to the team. We recently celebrated the agency’s fifth birthday and hit 40 staff; in reflection of both these milestones it felt appropriate to bring someone onboard to add further depth and weight to our Management team. Matt’s passion for creative work, enthusiasm for delivering commercially game-changing campaigns and his reputation as an all round good bloke made him an obvious choice.”
