Integration explored by Mango and DDB Sydney at PR Council’s first forum

The PR Council, part of the Communications Council, launched its PR forums in Sydney yesterday, the first of a series of four forums scheduled throughout the year.

Around 20 members attended the first session led by Claire Salvetti, managing director at Mango in Sydney, with a further session planned  at Mango’s Melbourne office on Thursday.

The session aimed at senior management focussed on integration and explored the importance of collaborative approaches to marketing communications. Best practice case studies and industry perspectives were shared by DDB Sydney’s managing partner Nicole Taylor, director of social media James Quinlan, and creative director Scott Huebscher.

James Wright, managing director of Red Agency, will lead the next forum on the ‘Secrets of Cannes’ at Liquid ideas on July 16. This will also be repeated in Melbourne at Undertow Media on July 23.

The PRC launched in August last year now has 23 member agencies across NSW, Victoria, Queensland and WA and is holding the forums as part of its membership package.

Members are also invited to attend quarterly committee meetings to help drive PRC initiatives forward. The next open committee meeting will be held at Porter Novelli in Sydney on Wednesday.

Stuart Gregor, chairman of the PRC, said: “Since launching at the end of 2012, we have focused largely on developing a membership package that offers real value to our members. Our approach is very inclusive, and it should be; in order for our initiatives and services to remain fresh and relevant, they need to be informed and inspired by our members.

“What I admire about these forums in particular is that, aside from expert training, they allow staff members from all agency levels to network with, and visit, other agencies, which in itself is a valuable learning experience. Joining the industry together is the best way to raise standards across the board and tackle the key issues effectively.”
