PS3 TV viewing hits 100,000 milestone

Sony has marked the emergence of its PlayStation 3 as a TV watching device, revealing that it has sold 100,000 units in Australia and dropped the price of the equipment to $150. The device allows viewers to watch all of the free to air channels, along with recording shows.

The announcement:

Sydney, 1 November 2010 – Sony Computer Entertainment Australia today announced that less than one year on from the launch of the PlayStation®3 (PS3™) peripheral PlayTV, which enables users to watch, pause and record high definition free-to-air digital TV, has sold over 100,000 units in Australia. To celebrate this milestone, a competitive new price point of RRP$149.95 has been announced for the Australian market effective today.
